A large evergreen tree, up to 25 m tall, with wide leafy crown and branches spreading up to a very large area with pillar-like prop roots and accessory trunks; bark grey, smooth; young parts softly pubescent. Leaves alternate; petiole 1.5-6(-8) cm long, pubescent with spreading hairs, stout, not jointed to blade; leaf blade 10-25 x 5-20 cm, ovate, orbicular-ovate or elliptic, coriaceous, margin entire, apex obtuse, base rounded, subcordate or slightly narrowed, (3-)5(-7) nerved, 4-7 secondary nerves from each side of midvein, intercostal reticulations distinct, bulging abaxially; leaf blade adaxially glabrous, abaxially pubescent with spreading hairs on veins. Stipules 2.5-3.5 cm x 1 cm, ovate-oblong, acuminate, coriaceous, stout, enclosing the apical bud completely, deciduous, puberulent. Hypanthodia sessile, in axillary pairs, depressed globose, 1.5-2 cm in diameter, green, red when mature, pubescent, subtended by 3 rounded-reniform, spreading, ca. 6 mm x 10 mm, minutely pubescent basal bracts; apical orifice by 3 flat (or +/- umbonate) bracts, internal bristles absent. Male flowers: Numerous, ostiolar, pedicellate, pedicels flat, up to 3 mm long, hard. Sepals 2-3. Stamen solitary; filament very short; anther 1 mm long, bithecous. Female and gall flowers: Intermixed. Sepals 3-4, small. Female flowers: Sessile with relatively long style than in gall flowers (pedicellate). Ripe figs globose to depressed globose, 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter, pinkish- red, hairy.

Flowering and Fruiting: March to May, receptacle remains on plant for long time
